Description	:	DeWitt Eager was born April 20, 1850, in Oneida county, New York. He was the youngest of nine children, five boys and four girls. His mother died when he was but four months old. Five years later the family migrated to Rock county, Wisconsin. At the age of eighteen he went to Montana with others who were going to the "land of gold." He worked at mining and teaming in and around Diamond City for five years. He then went to Nebraska and married Ella Taylor, July 4, 1874. He was the youngest of nine children, five boys and four girls. His mother died when he was but four months old. Five years later the family migrated to Rock county, Wisconsin. He then went to Nebraska and married Ella Taylor, July 4, 1874. To this union were born Edna Gake, of Beaver Crossing; Elmer Eager, of Winnet, Montana; Earl Eager, of Harvard, Nebr.; Alta Byrnes, of Crete, Nebr.; and Ollie Eager, of Anaheim, California. All were present at the funeral service which was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Gake. Others present were Mr. Amos Eager and Mr. Frank Eager, both of Lincoln. Mr. Eager was formerly engaged in the mercantile business here in Beaver Crossing. His wife, Ella Taylor Eager, died June 27, 1915. Later he married Lillie A. Ball and moved to California in December, 1920 and lived in Monrovia, where he died December 6, 1924. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Amy Case and Mrs. Orinda Ellison, of Fredricksburg, and two brothers, Alvin Eager, of Grand Island, and Amos Eager, of Lincoln, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
