Description	:	Dirk De Bruin, son of Cornelius De Bruin and Johanna Reuvers, was born five miles east of Pella on April 6, 1868. He passed away November 27, 1959, at Town Park Nursing Home, Oskaloosa, Iowa, at the age of 91 years. On March 9, 1892, he was married to Emma Vander Sluis. In 1908 he moved to a farm south of Pella where he lived until 1920. At that time he moved to the city of Pella. On April 18, 1928, his wife Emma passed away. In 1908 he moved to a farm south of Pella where he lived until 1920. At that time he moved to the city of Pella. On April 18, 1928, his wife Emma passed away. On August 28, 1924, he was married to Maggie Vos who passed away March 1, 1950. He was a charter member of the Third Reformed Church, serving for 25 years as a consistory member and a number of years as a Sunday School superintendent On April 20, 1954, he entered the Home for the Aged. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one' who died in infancy; John, who died in 1880 at the age of 3, William, who died in 1893 at the age of 19, and Jacob C , who died November 6, 1959; also one sister, Mrs. C. R. Van Heukelom who died in 1945 and one adopted daughter, Dora Heuer, who died in 1958. He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers: Tom, John, and M. C, all of Pella; one sister, Mrs. Art H. Cummings, also of Pella; three grandchildren: (Cornelia) Mrs. Clifford Romans of Des Moines, Samuel Menninga and (Rozella) Mrs. Leonard Buck of Jackson, Minn.; six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 2:00 p.m. from the Third Reformed Church. Rev. Wilbur Ringnalda and Dr. Gerrit Menning officiated. The congregation sang two selections, Psalm 68 vs. 10 and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul." Mrs. Jak« Monster was organist. Casket bearers were: Albert, Roy, Marion, Ralph, Paul De Bruin and Ernest Van Heukelom, all nephews o f Mr. Da Bruin. Burial was at the Black Oak Cemetery. A 1:30 p.m. prayer service preceded at the Garden Chapel (From the Pella Chronicle December 3, 1959)
