Dixie grew up in Chester, NE attending school and graduating from Chester High School with the class of 1953. She then attended Peru State College receiving her Normal Training Certificate to state her teaching career. She continued taking classes until she received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Peru State College in 1977. She taught for over 45 years at Byron Public Schools. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons. One of her and Martin’s favorite pastimes was going to antique sales. They even opened an antique store in Chester, NE. But what she loved most was spending time with her family especially the grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin, and son Lonnie. She is survived by her son Russ and wife Michele of Lincoln, NE, daughter-in-law Brenda Raatz of Aurora, IL, sister Rozann Campbell and husband Jim of Vancouver, WA, grandchildren; Derek Raatz and Edi Hurtado of Oak Park, IL, Ashley Cole and husband Brett of Sycamore, IL, Nicole Lickei and husband Matt of Lincoln, NE and Connor Raatz of Lincoln, NE, great-grandchildren; Camilla, Martin, Brant and Ryker, nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside services will be held Monday February 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Chester Cemetery in Chester, NE. Officiant Pastor Robert Hopkins, book signing still pending. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Memorials in care of the family. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
