Reverend Jim Loutzenheiser will officiate, with burial in Grimton Cemetery in rural Orchard, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Dolores died Friday, November 8, 2019, at Alpine Village in Verdigre, Nebraska. Dolores "Dee" Fick was born August 13, 1921, in Middlebranch, Nebraska to Bill and Agnes (Grosse) Hamilton. Dolores married Hershal Halstead in 1938 at the courthouse in O'Neill, Nebraska. To this union four children were born. They farmed in Holt and Boyd County for several years. In 1947, they moved to a ranch south of Atkinson and remained there for many years. Dolores married Walter Fick in November 1967 and spent many years on the ranch until they moved into O'Neill where she resided until moving to Verdigre. She loved the country, sewing, gardening, and always keeping busy and helping others. When Dolores offered food for funeral dinners, etc., she never took one dish, she took many. Dolores loved to cook and share with others. If someone stopped at the ranch to ask for directions, they were served a five-course meal. She still remembered many of her customers that she waited on when she worked at the grocery store in O'Neill back in the 1960's. Alpine Village was her home since January 2016, where she spent the remainder of her days and received loving care by all of the staff members. Dolores is survived by her three children, Shirli (Cliff) Pacha of Atkinson, Charlotte (Larry) Christensen of O'Neill, and Bob (Brenda) Halstead of O'Neill; five step-children, Gary (Mae Ellen) Fick of New York, Kathy Fick of Arizona, Walter, Jr. (Marilyn) Fick of Manhattan, Kansas, Ed (Kathy) Fick of Inman, and Debbie (Terry) Gibbs of Kearney; ten grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Doris Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerome; husband, Walter; three siblings, Gordon Hamilton, Lorraine Blair, and Charlene Hamilton; and brother-in-law, Ed Blair.
