| Description | : | Pony Express rider. He came to Kansas Territory in 1858. In 1860, sixteen-year-old Don Rising was hired for the Pony Express and was assigned the run between Granada and Marysville, Kansas Territory. He later rode from Big Sandy to Fort Kearny. After the Pony Express was terminated he was assistant wagon-master in the Union Army and was at the battles of Pittsburg Landing, Shiloh, Tuscumbia, and Corinth in 1862.
