Description	:	Don Kenan, 76, passed from this life Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Don was born March 27th, 1929 to Barney W. and Violet H. (Seadore) Kenan in Todd County, SD. He gew up in and around Woodlake, NE. He graduated from Woodlake High School in the class of 1949, and joined the Army in 1950. He was a member of the Second Armored Division out of Fort Hood, TX. Read More	Don Kenan, 76, passed from this life Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Don was born March 27th, 1929 to Barney W. and Violet H. (Seadore) Kenan in Todd County, SD. He gew up in and around Woodlake, NE. He graduated from Woodlake High School in the class of 1949, and joined the Army in 1950. He was a member of the Second Armored Division out of Fort Hood, TX. Don spent 16 months in Germany, living in tents. He finished his military duties in December 1952 and returned to Valentine. He went to work at the Gambles Store. Don married Wilma Nickle July 26, 1953 and got a bonus, a "very special daughter Linda Aleta Nickle after she picked him out as a keeper". He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After 15 years with Gamble he moved to the S&S Farm Store where he worked 23 1/2 years. During this time he taught many young people his strong work ethic. After he retired he went to work at Sunshine Green House. Don loved to fish and would take anybody who wanted to go. He loved to hunt rattlesnakes. He was a member of the Valentine Fire Dept. for many years. In 1959 he was baptized in the Christian faith and became a member of the United Methodist Church in 1962. Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister Marie, brother Eldon, and Mother and Father-in-law Nettie and Howard Hall. He is survived by his wife Wilma of 52 years, daughter Linda (Jim) Kluender, Edgemont, SD, grandaughter Dawn (Everett) Englebert, Edgemont, step grandchildren Tegwin (Jade) Egle, Thedford, NE and Trampas (Talli) Kluender, Grand Island, NE; great grandsons Chance Miles, and Clay Englebert and great grandson Garrett Egle. Also surviving are brothers Verne T. Kenan of Las Vegas, LeRoy (Coleen) Kenan of Beaver Lake, NE; special brother and sister in law Clint (Edith) Bachelor of Valentine, several neices, nephews, ex son-in-law Monty Hume of Fairburn, SD; and a host of friends. Funeral service for Don was held March 18 at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery. Sandoz Chapel of the Pine is in charge of arrangements.
