Description	:	Donald David Peterson, 87, of Arnold, passed away Oct. 6, 2015, at Callaway Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Oct. 13, 1927, in a sod house in Elim Valley near Callaway. The second of 13 children born to Floyd and Lucy (Rimpley) Peterson, he attended Yucca Valley School. Read More	Donald David Peterson, 87, of Arnold, passed away Oct. 6, 2015, at Callaway Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Oct. 13, 1927, in a sod house in Elim Valley near Callaway. The second of 13 children born to Floyd and Lucy (Rimpley) Peterson, he attended Yucca Valley School. He left home at a young age and went to work in farming. He eventually ended up in North Platte, where he worked various jobs, including Armour Packing Plant, North Platte Pack, Union Pacific Railroad as a track laborer, Frito Lay and Pepsi as a truck driver and custom butchering at Watson Store in Arnold. Don was united in marriage to Ruby Madison, of North Platte, on Jan. 12, 1957, in Ogallala. To this union they were blessed with four children, Julie, Shelley, Susan and Shawn. They moved to Arnold and bought a farm in 1965, where he lived until his death. He was an accomplished farmer and cattleman and raised an amazing garden with Ruby every year. He was known for his generosity as well as honesty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lucy; brother, Jimmy; and sisters, Violet and Lela. Don is survived by his wife, Ruby, of 58 years; children, Julie (Gary) Haddock, Shelley (Mitch) Helmuth, Susan Peterson and Shawn (Traci) Peterson; four grandchildren, Ashley Pell, Evan Peterson, Jacey Holmberg and Samuel Peterson; sisters, Nona Liebhart, Kay (Niels) Nielsen, of North Platte, Sheila (Dennis) Malcom, Jane (Noel) Wilkens, of Callaway, and Betty (Norman) Schuster, of Phillips; brothers, Loren Dee (Cheryl), of Arnold, Jerry, of North Platte, Jay (Jeannie), of Callaway, and Kenny (Marge), of Bertrand; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Tallin Cemetery south of Arnold with Pastor Irving Jennings officiating. The casket will be closed. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
