Description	:	Jerry D. Peterson, 80, of North Platte passed away Aug. 14, 2016. He went peacefully surrounded by his children. Jerry was born on Jan. 14, 1936, on the home place in Elim Valley near Callaway. He was the sixth of 13 children of Floyd and Lucy (Rimpley) Peterson of Arnold. He went to Elim Valley and Sand Valley schools for elementary and both Arnold and Callaway High School. After leaving home, he moved to North Platte. That is where he met Martha Johnson. He went peacefully surrounded by his children. Jerry was born on Jan. 14, 1936, on the home place in Elim Valley near Callaway. He was the sixth of 13 children of Floyd and Lucy (Rimpley) Peterson of Arnold. He went to Elim Valley and Sand Valley schools for elementary and both Arnold and Callaway High School. After leaving home, he moved to North Platte. That is where he met Martha Johnson. They were married in Arnold on Jan. 14, 1954. To this union four children were born, Cyndi, Randy, Vicky and Lori. He worked most of his life as a butcher but eventually began driving a truck and was very proud to be able to buy his first truck and start his own business. He was forced to stop working due to health issues in his mid-60s. At the time of his death, he lived in North Platte due to the need of dialysis, but his heart was always in Arnold, so he occupied a home there on weekends, where he enjoyed yard and garden work and tinkering on the house and vehicles. His hobbies included stock car racing, hunting, dancing and just spending time with family and friends, especially his kids, 10 grandkids, 30 great-grandkids. And he was soon to have a great-great-grandchild that he was very excited about. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lucy; brothers, Jimmy and Don; sisters, Violet and Lela; a granddaughter, Laura; a great-granddaughter, Jordan; several brothers-in-law; and a nephew. He is survived by his children, Cyndi Osborne (Scott Philippi), of Lexington, Randy Peterson, of Ulyssis, Vicky (Roger) Gracey, of Arnold and Lori (Jerry) Hagan, of Elwood; 10 grandchildren, Bill Osborne and fiancé Melissa Yendra, both of Pleasanton, Laic Clark, of Kearney, Brandon (Veronica) Peterson, of Denver, Lisa (Keith) Mansell, of Midland, Texas, Joel (Gabie) Birnie, of Miami, Florida, Sonny (Kristen) Birnie, of Hastings, Tanna (Chadd) Marhenke, of Cozad, Kaylee (Nate) Nelsen, of Gothenburg, Niki (Kenny) Townsend, of Elwood, and Josh Hagan and fiancé Sarah Dobranski, of Omaha; sisters, Nona Leibhart, Kay (Niels) Nielsen, of North Platte, Sheila (Dennis) Malcomb, Jane (Noel) Wilkens, of Callaway and Betty (Norman) Schuster, of Phillips; a brother, Loren Dee (Cheryll), of Arnold, Jay (Jeannie), of Callaway, and Kenny (Marge), of Bertrand; and many, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, at the Tallin Church. Burial will follow at the Tallin Cemetery. The Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
