He attended the rural school # 78, North Union and graduated from Galva High School He had resided in the local communities throughout his short but useful life. Read More	Donald Duane Hawkinson, son of A.W. and Sarah Regier Hawkinson, of the New Gottland community, McPherson County, Kansas, was born 19 December 1924. He attended the rural school # 78, North Union and graduated from Galva High School He had resided in the local communities throughout his short but useful life. On 12 June 1945 he was united in marriage to Nancy Waggoner at McPheson Kansas. Donald was a member of the New Gottland Lutheran Church, confirmed 6 April 1941. He was employed for several years as a roughneck in the oil fields. After learning to service refrigeration systems he became owner of D.& L. Appliance Service in McPherson, where he was still working. He was a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, Smoky Hill Chapter. Several months of illness preceded his passing which came at the McPherson Hospital, Saturday evening, 23 March i963, at the age of 38 years 3 months 5 days. Survivors include his wife, three sons, his parents Mr. and Mrs A.W. Hawkinson of Route 1, Galva Kansas, four brothers; Eugene of McPherson, LeRoy of San Jose, California, Warren of Lindsborg and Leonard of rural McPherson, other relatives and his many friends.
