She departed this life on Easter Sunday 15 April 1900 at McPherson Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness at the age of 90 years 19 days. She was a devoted housewife living near Galva all her married life. 15 November 1916 she was married to A.W. 'Bill" Hawkinson at the home of her parents, north of Galva. She departed this life on Easter Sunday 15 April 1900 at McPherson Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness at the age of 90 years 19 days. She was a devoted housewife living near Galva all her married life. 15 November 1916 she was married to A.W. 'Bill" Hawkinson at the home of her parents, north of Galva. This union was blessed with five sons, two of which along with their father preceded her in death.Her life was not always easy,as she often had valleys to walk through, but she never complained, always saying "I'm Okay" when asked how she was doing. Mom gave us many precious memories and took great joy in cooking, canning and taking care if her children. Sarah looked forward to her Monday afternoon pitch games at the Galva Senior Center and will be missed by her many friends there. She always enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved having them come to visit and play games or just sit and talk. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; Gene and Marge op Galva, LeRoy and Betty of San Jose California, Warren and Blanche of Lindsborg; one sister, Selma Tatro of Peabody; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
