Read More	The Mapleton Press 15 July 1976 Services For Longtime Businessman Donald Duane Jacobson, son of Ira and Emme (Christiansen) Jacobson was born on December 10, 1915 at Mapleton, Iowa and was a lifelong resident of Mapleton. On January 20, 1941 he was united in marriage to Darlene Sawin at Sioux City, Iowa. To this union was born three daughters and one son. Don was a carpenter for 42 years and the last 16 years he had been a partner in the Jacobson Brothers Construction Co. of Mapleton. Previously he had worked for the Haubrich Construction Co. for 18 years of Mapleton. Mr. Jacobson was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church at Mapleton and was a past board member and trustee. He was a veteran of World War II and had been awarded the Bronze Star in Italy. He was also received a Battlefield Citation with a promotion in rank. He was a member of the Mapleton Club, the America Legion Loren-Hollister Post 496 of Mapleton, and also was a member of the advisory board of Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City, Iowa. Mr. Jacobson died on Monday, July 5, 1976 unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack. Having reached the age of 60 years, 6 months, 25 days. Services were held on Thursday, July 8, 1976 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John’s United Methodist church in Mapleton with Rev. Louis A. Aitken officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton. Graveside Military Rites were given by American Legion Loren Hollister Post 496 of Mapleton, Iowa. Pallbearers were Walter Babl, Clifford Clark, John Hinrickson, Ralph Hightree, Glenn Corbin and Herbert Hahn, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Mapleton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Donna) Broderson of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Ted (DeeAnn) Paulsrud of Danbury, Iowa, Mrs. Randy (Debra) Ernst of Mapleton. One son, Duane Jacobson of Waseca, Minn., his mother, Mrs. Emma Jacobson of Mapleton; 1 sister, Mrs. Arwid (Genevieve) Albertson of Ukiah, California and 3 brothers, Harold of Sioux City, Iowa and Dale and Robert both of Mapleton, Iowa and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Ira Jacobson.
