Description	:	Donald Dwayne "Don" Young, 86 years of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Don was born on June 27, 1924 in Holdrege, the eldest of three children born to Glen John and Violet Marian (Lunberry) Young. Read More	Donald Dwayne "Don" Young, 86 years of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Don was born on June 27, 1924 in Holdrege, the eldest of three children born to Glen John and Violet Marian (Lunberry) Young. Don received his primary education from the Phelps County Dist. # 39 school and then the Atlanta High School, graduating with the class of 1941. On June 27, 1945 he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Lundvall and the couple were blessed with three children: Dennis, Susan and Bradley. The family made their home north of Atlanta, Nebraska. Don was engaged in farming until 1967 when he was employed by the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company as an equipment operator. He worked for the gas company for 19 years until his retirement in January of 1986. Don was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Loomis, where he was baptized and served as a Trustee. Don accepted Christ as his Savior in May of 1945. He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling, playing cards and checkers with his family and friends, most of all he never met a stranger; he loved to visit with everyone who crossed his path. Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by sister, JoAnn tenBensel and her husband, Richard; and granddaughter, Aundra Young. Don is survived by his wife of 65 plus years, Dorothy of Holdrege; children: Dennis Young of Holdrege, Susan Stroup and her husband, Steve of Holdrege, Brad Young and his wife, Teresa of Red Cloud, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren: Michelle Young, Stacey Young, Melissa Young, Dillon Young, Mark Stroup and his wife, Marlene, Brian Stroup and his special friend, Lacey Harms, Brandon Young, Brianna Young and Brady Young; 5 great-grandsons; brother, Neil Young and his wife, Marilyn of Holdrege; and a host of relatives and friends.
