He moved with his parents in March 1941 to Stoddard, Nebr. In the fall of 1944 he entered the first grade in Dist. 100. In the fall of 1945 he entered the second grade in the Chester Grade School. Donald played the trombone in the band in the eighth grade and for several years thereafter. He was a member of the High School Mixed Chorus and also the Mixed Sextette. He played with the Chester Bullpups in his freshman year. He was one of the top ten players in his sophomore year. He lettered that year and also won a free throw trophy for having the highest percentage. Due to the misfortune of breaking a bone in his right foot during basketball practice, he was unable to play basketball for the remainder of his senior year. Don was president the lasst (sic) part of his Freshman year. He was also vice-president of the Junior class and a member of the Student Council. He has been an active member of 4-H clubs for seven years. Donald is a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Hebron, a member of the Luther League, the senior choir and is a Sunday School teacher. He was in the Junior class play last year and also had parts in the one act plays in his Freshman and Sophomore years. They will make their home in Lincoln. ============================================ Donald E. Bohling, 59, Omaha, died Tuesday, April 7, 1998 at his home. He was employed by the Xerox Corporation as a customer service manager. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Omaha, and a U.S. veteran. Donald was born to Emil W. and Mathilda Bohling, at Chester, Nebraska on December 11, 1938. He was preceded in death by father, Emil. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, Omaha; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly A. and Greg Sehnert, Lees Summit, MO; Kelly M. Bohling, St. Louis, MO; Kristi J. and Shawn Lavalee, Omaha; sons, Kent D. and Kirby C. Bohling, Omaha; Step-daughter, Jennifer Rachel and husband Bob Schuette, Omaha; four grandchildren; his mother, Mathilda Bohling, Hebron; brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Norma Bohling, Pickrell, NE; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Lyndall Bargen, Nora, NE; nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held Saturday, April 11, 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Omaha. Burial was made at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by Millard American Legion Post #374 & VFW #8334. Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 13271 Millard Ave., Omaha, NE 68137, Grace Lutheran Church, Hebron, or Methodist Hospital, Omaha.
