Donald, son of William and Jeanetta Steider, was born at Shickley, Neb., August 26, 1935. He was baptized December 15, 1935, at Zion Lutheran church by Pastor Otto H. Wittig. Read More	STEIDER, DONALD F.—Donald Fredrick Steider passed away December 22, 1965, at Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln, Neb., after an extended illness, at the age of 30 years, 3 months and 26 days. Donald, son of William and Jeanetta Steider, was born at Shickley, Neb., August 26, 1935. He was baptized December 15, 1935, at Zion Lutheran church by Pastor Otto H. Wittig. It was also Pastor Wittig who confirmed him as a youth, June 17, 1951. January 31, 1965, Don and his wife were received into membership with Trinity Lutheran church in Lincoln. Don was united in holy wedlock to Miss Joann Fisher of Geneva September 28, 1958. To this union was born one son, Scott, who is four years old. Don graduated from Shickley high school in 1953. In April, 1958, he joined the Air Force. He was honorably discharged in June, 1962, after serving in England and Alaska. After his discharge Don was employed by the Nebraska Public Power System at Lincoln. Don will be remembered for his strength of character and for his kindness and his conviction. His Christian faith was very apparent, especially in the last months of his life. There remain to mourn his passing his wife, Joann; and son Scott; his parents, three brothers, Larry who is in the Air Force, having been located in France, Billy of Fairmont and Jimmy at home; one sister, Kay (Mrs. Larry Carlson) of Geneva and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva, December 27, at 2. Rev. Alfred Ernst, pastor of Trinity Lutheran in Lincoln, officiated. Miss Carol Jean Turek sang “Abide with Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” with Mrs. Melvin Olson as accompanist. Pallbearers were Jack Blanke, Merle Baggs, Wayne Busse, Bernard Churchill, Eldon Lauber and Albert Jacobsen Jr. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. “God calls our loved ones, but we lose Not wholly what He has given, They live on earth in thought a d deed As truly as in Heaven.” The Nebraska Signal January 13th, 1966 page 9.
