Description	:	Donald G. "Donnie" Koenig, 82, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:25 a.m., in St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1931 in Wapakoneta to the late Millard R. & Hilda F. (Schweitzer) Koenig. On September 5, 1955 he married his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline S. "Jackie" (Jenkins) Koenig, who he met while working together at the Metropolitan Bank. Jackie survives in Lima. Donnie was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Wapakoneta. "Donnie" Koenig, 82, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:25 a.m., in St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1931 in Wapakoneta to the late Millard R. & Hilda F. (Schweitzer) Koenig. On September 5, 1955 he married his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline S. "Jackie" (Jenkins) Koenig, who he met while working together at the Metropolitan Bank. Jackie survives in Lima. Donnie was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Wapakoneta. He worked for his father- in-law, Don Jenkins in the family jewelry store, and later became owner/operator. After 42 years in the business, Donnie retired in 1996. Don Jenkins Jewelers remains a third generation family owned jewelry store, operated and owned by his son Scott. Donnie was a proud member of the Lima community and a life- long volunteer. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #2661 Past Faithful Navigator, and BPOE Elks #54. Donnie served on the Senior Citizens Board and as chairman of the LCC Lima Education Board twice. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Donnie and his wife, Jackie were blessed with three children, Debra A. (Jim A.) Staup, of Lima, Mark A. (Troy Liston) Koenig, of Maynard, MA, and Scott C. (Diane D.) Koenig, of Lima; three granddaughters, Samantha "Sam", Hailey, and Kelly Jo Koenig, all of Lima; 2 sisters- in- law, Sharon Koenig, of Wapakoneta, and Marilyn Jenkins, of Lima; brother-in- law, Ron Spyker, of Wapakoneta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Koenig, and five sisters, Evelyn Carmean, Marilyn Wallace, Betty Spyker, Patty Sabo, and Nancy Koenig. Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Father Stephen Blum will officiate. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum.
