He was born March 23, 1928, in rural Hamler, the son of Louis and Mathilda (Gerken) Bergstedt. In 1949, he married Ruth Behnfeldt, who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where he served on various committee, including elder and trustee. He was owner and operator of Bergstedt Builders, retiring in 1995. Bergstedt, 77, Napoleon, died Saturday morning, Sept. 17, 2005, at Henry County Hospital. He was born March 23, 1928, in rural Hamler, the son of Louis and Mathilda (Gerken) Bergstedt. In 1949, he married Ruth Behnfeldt, who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where he served on various committee, including elder and trustee. He was owner and operator of Bergstedt Builders, retiring in 1995. He was awarded for more than 37 years service to Little League Baseball coaching the Red Sox, was a Son of the American Legion member of Napoleon American Legion, Bert G. Taylor Post 300, a social member of Napoleon Luther Kolbe VFW Post 8218, and a son of the AMVETs Dan Arthur Peterson Post 1313 of Napoleon. Also surviving are five sons, Thomas (Marilyn), Michael (Darlene), James, Joe (Deb), and Scott (Shelley), all of Napoleon; a brother, Louis (Rosella), Liberty Center; a sister, Mrs. Eldon (Doris) Zumfelde, Napoleon; a half sister, Dorothy Lawrence, Houston, Texas; and nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren. Preceding him in death was a grandson. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with Rev. Peter Marcis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon.
