He was born October 12, 1923 in Napoleon to the late William F. and Emma (Badenhop) Fetter. On November 6, 1949, he married Betty (Bremer) Fetter who preceded him in death on February 13, 2008. On December 30, 2010 he married Virginia Schuster Fetter and she survives. Don was a 1941 graduate of Napoleon High School and attended Bowling Green State University. Fetter, 94, of Napoleon, Ohio died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Genacross Lutheran Home, Napoleon, Ohio. He was born October 12, 1923 in Napoleon to the late William F. and Emma (Badenhop) Fetter. On November 6, 1949, he married Betty (Bremer) Fetter who preceded him in death on February 13, 2008. On December 30, 2010 he married Virginia Schuster Fetter and she survives. Don was a 1941 graduate of Napoleon High School and attended Bowling Green State University. On December 7, 1942 he entered the Naval Academy where he earned his reserve commission in the United States Marine Corps. On completion of his flight training at Naval Air Station, Pensacola he earned his wings as a multi engine pilot. He trained as a pilot of a B25, PBJ medium bomber and saw overseas duty in the south and central Pacific as a multi engine plane commander. After the war he was sent to Guam and Japan and returned home in July 1946 on inactive duty. He was recalled to active duty May 2, 1952 during the Korean War attaining the rank of Major and he was honorably discharged on February 20, 1959. He was active in his family insurance and real estate business before he was recalled to service. Upon returning home he purchased the family agency and another large agency to form Donald Fetter Real Estate and Insurance Agency. In 1964, Fetter agency merged with 2 other agents to form Associated Insurance Agency and Fetter Realty. He became sole owner of the agency in 1979 and retired in 1985. He was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. He served as chairman of the Congregation for two terms, chairman of the board of Elders, Treasurer, Stewardship director, Sunday school teacher, usher, and member of the building committee for the construction of the church and school. He was also very active in the Napoleon community and served as President of the Napoleon City council for two terms, Chairman of the citizens committee for the promotion of the new high school and passage of the construction levy, President of the Chamber of Commerce, President and Director of the Napoleon Rotary Club, Director of the Henry County Airport Authority during the construction, Director of Banc Ohio the Community Bank, life member of the Bert G. Taylor Post 300 of the American Legion, and charter member of VFW Post 8218. He is also survived by his daughters, Linda (Brian) Lester of Springfield, Virginia, Patricia (Jim Merrill) Pastorek of Peoria, Arizona; grandchildren, Brad (Mary) Pastorek of New York City, New York, Brent (Elizabeth) Pastorek of Hilliard, Ohio; 3 great grandchildren; stepchildren, Tom (Cathy) Vorwerk of Napoleon, Ohio Scott (Colleen) Snyder of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Mike Schuster of Ninilchik, Alaska, James (Donna) Schuster of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Carol Keller of Fort Myers, Florida; 12 step grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Thomas Fetter; brothers, Wilbur and Willis Fetter; and a sister, Beulah McDougal. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Genacross Lutheran Home of Napoleon.
