Description	:	Donald "Don" J. Gilbert, 68, died Friday in Butte. He was born in Butte on March 30, 1937, the son of Jewel (Burns) and Harlan Gilbert. On Oct. 19, 1968, Don married Sharon Hihnala. Don went to school at Webster Garfield and graduated from Butte High School. After high school, Don joined the U.S. Navy. He worked at H.O. Parts and Automotive Supply, Big A Auto, Checker-Auto, Montana Muffler and recently at Uno's Lounge. He was a life member of the BPOE 240 for 48 years. He was born in Butte on March 30, 1937, the son of Jewel (Burns) and Harlan Gilbert. On Oct. 19, 1968, Don married Sharon Hihnala. Don went to school at Webster Garfield and graduated from Butte High School. After high school, Don joined the U.S. Navy. He worked at H.O. Parts and Automotive Supply, Big A Auto, Checker-Auto, Montana Muffler and recently at Uno's Lounge. He was a life member of the BPOE 240 for 48 years. Don was Past Exalted Ruler and Past District Deputy Montana South. Don was the most wonderful dad and pop-pop there ever was. He loved spending time reading stories, fishing and boating. He especially loved playing with his grandkids. They all adored him. He also loved working with wood, and he built some beautiful pieces for his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed and looked forward to his wood carving class. Don was more than all that; he lived his life with honor and integrity. He taught by the way he lived. He was honest, dependable, humble and sensitive. He loved to laugh. He enjoyed traveling, especially trips to see his family and jaunts to Arizona. He was a wonderful caring husband, father, pop-pop, grandpa, son and friend who will be missed dearly. He was loved by all who knew him and will never be forgotten. Don is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Scott Gilbert. Don is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Jeff Parrott of Billings; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Karyn Gilbert of New York City; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Brian Hall of Snohomish, Wash.; grandchildren, Leia, Jeremy and Alicia Gilbert of Beaverton, Ore., Lane and Trace Parrott of Billings and Hailey, Hannah and Logan Hall of Snohomish, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Brad and Katlyn Arvat of Beaverton, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law, Harlan and Arliss Gilbert of Billings; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Bev Hihnala of Helena, David Hihnala of Minnesota, Leonard Hihnala of Butte, Larry Hihnala of Las Vegas, Judy and Frank Jeniker of Lakeside, Lorna Hihnala of Butte. Don is also survived by numerous cousins. The family will receive friends this Sunday after 5 p.m. for visitations at Duggan Dolan Mortuary. Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Duggan Dolan Mortuary. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
