Description	:	Donald Jacob Baumann was born May 6, 1920, to Jacob Baumann and his wife, Anna (nee Everts), on a farm near Grafton. He was baptized in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Grafton, as an infant; and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 17, 1934, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Grafton, by Pastor W. A. Krenke. Read More	Donald Jacob Baumann was born May 6, 1920, to Jacob Baumann and his wife, Anna (nee Everts), on a farm near Grafton. He was baptized in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Grafton, as an infant; and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 17, 1934, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Grafton, by Pastor W. A. Krenke. On April 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marian Heinz by Pastor R.H. Roth. To this union were born three children: Susan, Cynthia and James. With the exception of the time that Don spent in the Air Force, he spent the rest of his life in Grafton. Here, he was engaged in the oil and gas business with his brother, Herbert, he farmed and also managed the implement business in Sutton for 28 years. Besides serving his church in many capacities, Don also was a member of the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion Post No. 61. After many hospitalizations, he entered Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln on Sunday, August 12, and was called by His Gracious God to his eternal rest on Monday, August 13. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Anna Baumann. He leaves to mourn his wife, Marian; his children, Susan, of West Point, Cynthia, (Mrs. Robert Brill) of Hastings and James of Grafton; his brother, Herbert; a sister, Mildred of Grafton and numerous other relatives and friends. Through the grace of God, Don was a loving father and husband and a good neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Blessed by his memory. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 15 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grafton, with Pastor James Lillo officiating. The congregation sang "What God Ordains is Always Good," "Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me," and "Abide with Me." Mrs. Rodney Domeier was organist. Pallbearers were Paul Baumann, Mervin Baumann, Clarence Obelander, Harold Everts, Vern Domeier and Frank Otte. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal August 23rd, 1979 page 16.
