Description	:	Jacob Baumann, son of Eillert and Folste Baumann, was born March 10, 1882. He departed this life at the General Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., January 30, 1942, at the age of 50 years, 10 months and 20 days. He was born at Edwardswille, and there became a child of God through the sacrament of holy baptism. At the age of six months, the family came to Nebraska and settled in Fillmore County. Read More	Jacob Baumann, son of Eillert and Folste Baumann, was born March 10, 1882. He departed this life at the General Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., January 30, 1942, at the age of 50 years, 10 months and 20 days. He was born at Edwardswille, and there became a child of God through the sacrament of holy baptism. At the age of six months, the family came to Nebraska and settled in Fillmore County. He spent his entire life in the Grafton community. March 29, 1896, at the age of fourteen years, he entered into the full fellowship of the Evangelical Lutheran Church through the rite of confirmation at Zion Lutheran Church of Shickley, Neb. April 18, 1907, he entered the state of holy matrimony with Anna Everts. To this union were born three children; Mildred, Herbert and Donald. In 1924 Mr. Baumann began the operation of his oil business in Grafton. During this entire period of eighteen years he enjoyed the help of his trustworthy employee, Lloyd Softley. Mr. Baumann was a faithful adherent and staunch supporter of his faith unto the end. He was a loyal friend. Also in the welfare of the community he was always willing to do his share. In November, 1941, after several years of failing health, he entered the General Hospital at Lincoln, Neb., for treatment and it was from there that the Lord called him to his eternal home. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and three children; two brothers, Edward of Grafton and Will of Sutton; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Oberland and Mrs. Sophie Otte of Grafton, and Mrs. Etta Everts of Sutton; a host of other relatives and many friends. Three sisters preceded him in death. The burial services were conducted February 2, 1942. The service at the home began at 1:30 p.m. From there the procession went to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for the last rites. Rev. R. H. Roth conducted the services and based his address on Psalms 55:16-18. A choir of Zion's Church of Shickley, under the direction of Rev. J. Rabbe, beautifully rendered the hymns, "I'm but a Stranger Here" and "Thy Will Be done." Mrs. John Everts presided at the organ. Mrs. A. Hull was in charge of the flowers. Out of respect for the departed, all the business houses of Grafton closed during the services. Many and beautiful were the floral offerings. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. Six nephews served as pallbearers, Vern Domeier, Clarence Oberlander, Herman Everts, GlenBaumann, Franklin Otte and Harold Everts. The ushers were Alton Workentine, George Schumacher, Ernest Poulsen and John Hickstien. Nebraska Signal February 1942. Lot owner: Jacob Baumann.
