Description	:	Don Robertson was born July 1, 1920, in Fairview, Iowa. He was the adopted son of James W. and Ella M. Robertson. His education is as follows: he graduated from Anamosa High School in 1938 (received nine varsity letters) and attended William Penn College and Chemical Warfare School in Gadsden, Ala. He married Joyce M. Ambuehl on June 30, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. His education is as follows: he graduated from Anamosa High School in 1938 (received nine varsity letters) and attended William Penn College and Chemical Warfare School in Gadsden, Ala. He married Joyce M. Ambuehl on June 30, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. During World War II, Don Robertson served with the U.S. Air Corps as a sergeant – chemical warfare decontaminator with the 39th Fighter Squadron in the South Pacific. His employment history included working at the Reliance Manufacturing Co., Jones County Engineer's Office and the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years. He was one of the original investors in Fawn Creek Country Club Inc., and was in charge of the construction of the Fawn Creek golf course. Don Robertson also served as a member of the FCCC board of directors for 35 years. He retired in 2000 and was granted a Fawn Creek Life Membership Award in appreciation of his services. Additionally, Don coached the Wapsipinicon golf team, which went on to win six consecutive titles in the Eastern Iowa Golf Association. He was a member of the Eastern Iowa Golf Association Hall of Fame and the Wapsi Country Club Hall of Fame (past champion of Monticello Golf Club and the Wapsi Country Club). Don was a member of the American Legion, VFW, 39th Fighter Squadron Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Golf Collectors Society of America and the First Congregational Benevolent Society. He also was a friend of the First Congregational Church of Anamosa. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, on July 1, 2001, after 58 years of marriage; his parents; three brothers, Raymond, Howard and Larry; and one sister, Irene.
