Description	:	Donald R. Mines, 73 years of age, passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. Don entered this world August 23, 1924 in North Bend, Nebraska, the second of four children of Robert A. and Gladys (Hastings) Mines. He graduated from Wymore High School in 1942. Soon after he entered the Navy and was honorable discharged in 1949. Don married Bridget Colgan in 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska and they later moved to Holdrege. Mines, 73 years of age, passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. Don entered this world August 23, 1924 in North Bend, Nebraska, the second of four children of Robert A. and Gladys (Hastings) Mines. He graduated from Wymore High School in 1942. Soon after he entered the Navy and was honorable discharged in 1949. Don married Bridget Colgan in 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska and they later moved to Holdrege. Don worked leveling and building roads in and around Phelps County and across Nebraska until 1976. First working with his father RA Mines and Sons Construction in Funk, Nebraska and later with his son, Jim, as Mines and Son Construction. His survivors include his sons; Jim Mines of North Carolina, Tom Mines of Omaha, Bill Mines of Wray Col., Dan Mines of Pensacola, Fla., Robert Mines of the Philippines and adopted son, Ken Hill of North Platte, a daughter Kathy Esbri of North Carolina; and 8 grandchildren. In addition to his surviving children and grandchildren are a sister, Roberta Marusek of Waverly; a brother, Duane Mines of Hooper; 2 brothers-in-law, Bob Thompson of Lakebay, Wash and Bob Colgan of Bullhead City, Ariz., 4 sisters-in-law: Mary Conant and her husband Don of Orleans, Lucille Elliott and Leona Augustine both of Denver and Delores Colgan of Lincoln and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
