The service will conclude at the church. Mr. Hamil was born Jan. 17, 1914, to James and Ada (Walker) Hamil in Proctor. His parents moved to Colorado from Tennessee. He spent his early years on a ranch in Proctor. He attended Sterling High School and later received a bachelor's degree from Hastings College in Nebraska. After gradua lion, he formed a cattle feeding and farming partnership with his brother, Dave. He married Frieda Hensel, daughter of the Rev, and Mrs. Otto Hensel of Sterling, on Nov. 17, 1940. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before Mrs. Hamil died in 1992. Mr. Hamil was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was an elder at the time of his death. He was a member of Sterling Elks Lodge No. 1336 and Sterling Rotary Club. As an active golfer in his later years, he also belonged to the Sterling Country Club. Mr. Hamil is survived by three daughters, Donna Talman and husband David of Worcester, Mass., Karen Browne and husband Jay of Loudonville, N.Y., and Judi Carvajal and husband Fred of McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren, Adam Talman, Christopher and Whitney Browne, and Dick and Valerie Carvajal; a brother, David and wife Genevieve of Sterling; three sisters, Edna Gaines of Sterling, Mildred Schroer of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Margaret Minteer and husband Harry of Lakewood; and special nephew, Jim Williamson and wife Jean of Sterling. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer So ciety and the Friends of the Sterling Public Library.
