Inurnment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. Donald Wayne Everett, 76 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. He was born June 17, 1938, in Holdrege, the sixth of eight children born to Robert and Ethel Arthealia (Shively) Everett. He attended Holdrege Public Schools, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1957. In 1960, he was united in marriage to Georgina Davis and to this union two children were born: Dawn Marie and Steven. Don worked for Joe Mozie Construction building homes and then for the Coca Cola Bottling Plant in Holdrege. In 1963, Don was transferred to Tucson, Arizona until 1966, when they returned to Holdrege. In 1967, Don was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Forshey and they welcomed son, Doug and Beverly’s children: Bradley and Marilyn to this union. Don returned working for Joe Mozie Construction and in 1969 began his longtime career with the City of Holdrege. He was a custodian for the city buildings for over 31 years and retired in 1999 due to health problems. Don was preceded in death by Beverly on September 8, 1984. Don was a member of the Holdrege Elks Lodge and the Eagles Club of Holdrege. He loved the outdoors and liked to spend his time ice fishing, hunting and camping. Don also enjoyed bowling, but mostly loved to spend his time with his family, especially his grandkids. Besides his parents and wife, Beverly; Don was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Everett; brother, Roger Everett; three sisters: Donna Ganser, Roberta Senyerd and Sue Carol Everett in infancy and his special friend, Faye Elliott. He leaves to mourn his passing; his daughter, Dawn Marie Nelson of Thomasville, Pennsylvania; his two sons: Steve Everett and his wife, Marshyl of Cozad, Nebraska and Doug Everett of Pennsylvania; two step-children: Bradley Yost of Loganville, Pennsylvania and Marilyn Brown of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers: David Everett and his wife, Joan and Larry Everett all of Holdrege; his sister, Patty Beck of Holdrege; and a host of relatives and friends. There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Don’s wish for cremation. A memorial has been established in Donald's memory and will be designated at a later date.
