Description	:	Donna Christy Lee CRISFIELD—Donna Christy Lee died at her home in Harwood, Md., on Friday, March 3, 2006. She was 76 years old. Donna was born in Crisfield on Aug. 5, 1929, the daughter of Clarence Christy and Olive Sterling Christy. Music was an important part of her life. She started voice lessons under Mrs. John P. She was 76 years old. Donna was born in Crisfield on Aug. 5, 1929, the daughter of Clarence Christy and Olive Sterling Christy. Music was an important part of her life. She started voice lessons under Mrs. John P. Tawes at the age of 8. On her 16th birthday, she sang for Mrs. Millard (Avalynne) Tawes, future first lady of Maryland, and the Annapolis Opera Society. In her teens she sang for then-Gov. Tawes and "Curly" Byrd, the president of the University of Maryland, at dinners honoring them. She graduated from high school in Crisfield, then studied voice under the late Mr. Frank Bibb at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. Donna sang in church choirs and chorale groups wherever they lived. She was especially proud of her 20 years with the U.S. Naval Academy Chorale. In 1978 the couple purchased Parkhurst, a National Historic Place in Harwood, Md., for which Donna was the decorator and gardener. Donna was an accomplished needlepoint artist, winning many awards at shows in the Washington, D.C., area. Donna was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, and four grandchildren. Her cremated remains were interred in the Naval Academy Columbarium.
