July 2, 1873, she with her family came to Seward, Nebraska from Germany. On January 14, 1875 she was married to Mr. J. F. Goehner. July 2, 1873, she with her family came to Seward, Nebraska from Germany. On January 14, 1875 she was married to Mr. J. F. Goehner. This union was blessed with nine children, two of which preceded the mother in death. The young couple each had been reared by Christian parents. When St. John's Ev. Lutheran church at Seward, Nebr. was organized in 1877 they were among the charter members, who had attended also the missionary services which previously were held by the later Rev. Theodore Gruber, pastor of the old "Stone Church." And as Christian parents they brought up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:1). They were regular church attendants and loyal supporters of their church and the Christian school at home and abroad. December 29, 1922 her husband preceded the deceased in death, clinging to his Savior in faith until his last breath. This fact was a great consolation to her in her sorrow over the loss of her life's companion. Her own soul's salvation and that of her loved ones had always been her uppermost desire in her pleadings with the Lord in prayer for those who were near and dear to her she practiced until He called her own soul from this life. During the last ten weeks of her life complications caused her more or less suffering, during which she found great consolation in the great promise of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, rejoicing in his vicarious work of redemption and praising the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ she passed away Tuesday, November 13, 1934 at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 20 days, leaving six sons and one daughter, Fred W., Bernhard, Arthur of Seward, John of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Walter of Seward, William of Bloomington, Illinois, and Miss Doretta of Seward; five daughters-in-law, five grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Rargel and Mrs. Peter Goehner, besides other relatives and friends. Friday afternoon, November 16, 1934, funeral services were held at the home and in St. John's church, the pastor and Prof. Hy Koenig officiating. Interment was made in the Seward cemetery.
