Description	:	Doris A. Christensen, the daughter of Emmet and Ida (Steinke) Gray, was born on October 12, 1912 on a farm near Upland, Nebraska. She passed away on November 9, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 95 years and 28 days. Doris was baptized on September 4, 1927 at the E.U.B. Church. She graduated in 1930 from the Upland High School, Upland, Nebraska and furthered her education at Hastings, College, Hastings, Nebraska. Christensen, the daughter of Emmet and Ida (Steinke) Gray, was born on October 12, 1912 on a farm near Upland, Nebraska. She passed away on November 9, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 95 years and 28 days. Doris was baptized on September 4, 1927 at the E.U.B. Church. She graduated in 1930 from the Upland High School, Upland, Nebraska and furthered her education at Hastings, College, Hastings, Nebraska. She taught at the Harmony country school near Upland from 1932 - 1935. She was united in marriage to LeRoy W. Christensen on September 1, 1935 in Hastings, Nebraska by the Rev. Henry McClenahan and to this union was born three children, Maurice, Lois and Owen. Together they lived in Hastings and York, Nebraska until moving to Superior, Nebraska in 1943. She was a member and very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Superior. She was presented an Honorary Life Membership of the Ladies Association for caring and supporting the Presbyterian Women. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for years. She was a member of the Brodstone Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers. She was an avid Bridge player and belonged to several Bridge clubs. Her family will remember her for her quilts that she made for each of her children and grandchildren. Every Great-grandchild was welcomed with knitted booties, hat and a blanket. They will also remember her for her pies that she made. She loved to spend time with her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and you never went away hungry from Grandma's house. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy W. Christensen on July 26, 1981, her son Maurice, and one brother Dick Gray and sister-in-law Dorothy Gray. She is survived by her children, Lois Hamel and husband Kenneth of Nelson, Nebraska and Owen Christensen and wife Kathy of Lincoln, Nebraska and daughter-in-law, Jan Casey, widow of son Maurice of Boise, Idaho. Seven grandchildren, Bill Christensen and wife Diane of North Richmond Hill, Texas, Jennie Murphy and husband Ben, Angie Barr and husband Scott, Chris Christensen and wife Amy all of Lincoln, Nebraska, Cindy Buescher and husband Dwayne of Lawrence, Nebraska, Diane Eiseman and husband Tim of Blue Hill, Nebraska and Amy Hamel of Minden, Nebraska. 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bryce and Cody Buescher, Alec and Erica Eiseman, Jordan, Ben Jr. and Emma Murphy, Damon and Cecila Barr and Alexis Christensen. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10:30 AM from the First Presbyterian Church in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating. Music was "In The Garden" & "Precious Lord Take My Hand", with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist and accompanist. Pallbearers were Bill Christensen, Chris Christensen, Dwayne Buescher, Tim Eiseman, Scott Barr and Ben Murphy. Honorary pallbearers were Cindy Buescher, Diane Eiseman, Amy Hamel, Jennie Murphy, Angie Barr, Diane Christensen and Amy Christensen. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
