Mr. Christensen and his father operate the International Harvester agency at Superior. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, August 26, 1965 -------------------------------------------- Maurice Christensen, 27, Superior, died in Brodstone Hospital, Superior, Tuesday night, as a result of an automobile-train collision on Highway 14 about one-half mile north of the Nuckolls-Clay county line. The accident occurred at about 6:40 p.m. Injured in the collision were Mrs. Christensen, and their 3 1/2-month-old son, William. Mrs. Christensen is in the hospital in Superior and the baby was taken to a Lincoln hospital. Mrs. Christensen is the former Janet Freese. Mrs. Christensen is reported as getting along satisfactorily and the baby's condition is reported as good. The Christensens had been at Lincoln and were on their way home at the time. Skid marks indicated that Maurice had seen the approaching train, but skidded onto the track and was hit by the locomotive of the east-bound Burling freight train. The accident was investigated by Clay County Sheriff Lloyd Pontine. The car was a 1965 Oldsmobile. Maurice was a son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Christensen and was manager of the parts department in Christensen's here. He was a graduate of Superior High School and of the University of Nebraska. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Christensen, one sister, Mrs. Kenneth Hamel (Lois), and one brother, Owen. Funeral services will be held at the Centennial Lutheran Church, Superior, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, with Rev. Robert Leege officiating. The Superior Express, Thursday, date unknown
