Description	:	Doris Beatrice Olney was born in Marathon on Jan. 4, 1899, the daughter of Nathan and Margaret Hawk. She attended the Marathon Schools and graduated from Marathon High School in 1917. Doris then went to Washington D.C. where she worked during WW I. She then attended the University of Iowa and became a teacher. She taught in the Gillette Grove and Marathon Schools. Doris married Norris G. Olney Sr. on Sept. 16, 1924 and to this union 9 children were born, the first of which died shortly after birth. She spent most of her adult life in Marathon, until she moved to the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City at the age of 89. Doris...
