Description	:	Doris M. Spurgeon, 90, of Washington, formerly of Keosauqua, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. She was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Davis County to Levi and Ruth Christy Chadwick. She married Harvey W. Spurgeon Sept. 3, 1939. He died Aug. 25, 2006. Doris grew up in Davis County, graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended secretarial school. She was employed as a secretary in Ottumwa. She was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Davis County to Levi and Ruth Christy Chadwick. She married Harvey W. Spurgeon Sept. 3, 1939. He died Aug. 25, 2006. Doris grew up in Davis County, graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended secretarial school. She was employed as a secretary in Ottumwa. The family moved to Keosauqua in 1949 and owned and operated Spurgeon?s Jewelry prior to Harvey becoming Postmaster. Doris was a member of Keosauqua Christian Church, Beer-Barker Unit 113, American Legion Auxiliary and was a 50-year member and Past Matron of the former Lynds Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Keosauqua and was currently a member of Twin City Chapter No. 258, Douds, and had been a member of the Keosauqua Quilt Club. Surviving are three daughters, Elaine Bozman and Lorraine Guy (Wendel) of Washington and Nancy Rae (David) of Salisbury, Mo.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Chadwick of Ottumwa and John Chadwick of St. Louis, Mo.; and five sisters, Alice Harder of Center Point, Ore., Jean Koehler of Burlington, Joann Hunter of Seymour, Joyce Pence of Bloomfield and Jeanette Chadwick of West Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Martin and Carl Chadwick; and two sisters, Judy Chadwick and Mary Lee Lyons. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. Linda Foor officiating. Published in the Ottumwa Daily Courier from 1/12/2009 - 1/13/2009
