Description	:	Doris Rowe, of Oak Harbor, died on Dec. 16, 2009 at Whidbey General Hospital. Doris was the daughter of James Drake and Dorothy Hatfield, of Anacortes. She attended local schools and married Allan Rowe on March 24, 1950. She became a Navy wife. As such, she and her family moved around the U.S. and lived in Japan for three years. As a Navy wife she was the foundation of family life, raising two sons by herself while her husband was on active duty deployments. Read More	Doris Rowe, of Oak Harbor, died on Dec. 16, 2009 at Whidbey General Hospital. Doris was the daughter of James Drake and Dorothy Hatfield, of Anacortes. She attended local schools and married Allan Rowe on March 24, 1950. She became a Navy wife. As such, she and her family moved around the U.S. and lived in Japan for three years. As a Navy wife she was the foundation of family life, raising two sons by herself while her husband was on active duty deployments. After retirement, she and her husband, Allan, settled in Oak Harbor. They frequently traveled across country to visit friends and family, and toured Alaska with her sister, Jean, and brother-in-law, Les Hassler. Doris developed a love for seeking out antiques, golf, quilting, and genealogy. She was also a member of DAR. Sons, Gregory Rowe, and wife, Donna, Mike Rowe, and wife, Susan; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Bud Drake; and sister, Pauline Green also survive her. Doris will be remembered as an independent woman with a love for life, friends, and family. She will be deeply missed. A graveside memorial service was held for Doris on January 4, 2010 at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Burley Funeral Chapel of Oak Harbor was entrusted with arrangements.
