At the alter were two baskets of yellow gladiolus, white carnations and fern. Playing the organ was Miss Eleanor Schiermeyer, Superior, who also accompanied Mr. Paul Hanselmann who sang, "Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony. Glen Mueller, brother of the bride, lighted the two seven brand candelabra. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor length gown of French Chantilly flounce, lace over net and satin. The dress was fashioned with pointed bridal sleeves, peter pan collar, and full skirt with flounce. Her illusion veil edged in white fell from a prince tiara of sequins and seed pearls. Both the dress and the veil were made by the bride. She carried a colonial bouquet of red and white carnations, with white stephanotis and white satin streamers, and a handerchief (sic) which her grandmother carried at her wedding. Her jewelry was a three-strand pearl necklace, a gift from the groom and cluster pearl errings (sic). Miss Fern Schiermeyer, Lincoln, friend of the bride, was maid-of-honor. She wore a lavender ballerina-length dress of lace and net over taffeta with lace bolero and carried a nosegay of yellow carnations with white streamers. The bridesmaid was Mona Joy Langer, Superior, friend of the bride, who wore a green ballerina-length dress of net over taffeta with net stole. She also carried a nosegay of yellow carnations with white streamers. Donald Swanstrom. brother of the groom, was bestman and Dale Mueller, brother of the bride was second attendant. LeAnn Petr, cousin of the bride, attired in lavender embroidered nylon drees was flower girl. She carried variegated bachelor's-buttons and white daises in her basket. Richard Mueller, brother of the bride, carried the heart shaped pillow of white satin withthe rings held in place with a lavender ribbon. Lester Mueller, brother of the bride, and Robert Schiermeyer seated the guests. Marilyn Swanstrom was in charge of the guest book. In charge of the gift table were Norma Cramer, Bladen; Mrs. Gordon Farver, Nelson; and Lois Mueller, Nelson. Both the bride's mother and the groom's mother were attired in navy blue dresses and wore corsages of peppermint carnations. The reception was held in the church basement immediately following the ceremony. The bride's table was centered with a square wedding cake topped with a minature (sic) bride and groom. Mrs. Eilert Bargen, aunt of the bride, cut the cake and Mrs. Leonard Janssen poured the punch. Serving the bride's table were Miss Thelma Warneking, Columbus, Ohio; Miss Eileen Oltmans, Nelson; and Miss Marion Hanselmann, Superior. Assisting in the serving were Mrs. Earl Petz, Mrs. Donald Bargen, Mrs. Margaret Grummert, and Mrs. Ed. Mueller. Guests from a distance attending the wedding were Miss Eileen Schiermeyer, Lincoln; Mrs. Bertha Leary, New York, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Grummert, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Quintin Nelson and sons, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Swanstrom and family, Seward; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Woods, Omaha; Miss Thelma Warneking, Columbus, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eillot (sic), Manhattan, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kugler, Mankato, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grummert, and Mrs. Caroline Mueller and Emma, Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Swanstrom are making their home in Nelson. Mrs. Swanstrom is employed as secretary at the South Central Membership Association office in Nelson while Mr. Swanstrom is presently employed at Hill's Super Service at Superior. ============================= Doris Mary Swanstrom, 84, of Moses Lake, WA, passed from this life into eternal life on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at her home in Moses Lake, WA. Doris was born on July 16, 1936, to Carl and Elsie Mueller in their farmhouse near Nelson, NE. Doris was the middle of 9 children and the only daughter. She was a 1953 graduate of Nelson High School. After graduation from Nelson High School, Doris worked part-time for the Nuckolls County Extension Service and South-Central Public Power in Nelson. Doris married Dale Swanstrom on July 22, 1956, in Nelson, NE. The couple made their home in Nelson, NE, for a short while and then moved to Douglas, WY, Superior, NE, Long Pine, NE, and McCook, NE. Then in 1968, they moved their young family to Moses Lake, WA. In Moses Lake, Doris established and managed the home and did in home babysitting while raising their three children. She started working part-time at the Big Bend Community College serving as the secretary for the Japanese Agricultural Training program in 1972. She enjoyed not only the job but became life-long friends with her colleagues and many of the students in the program. In 1975, she started working tax seasons for the LeMaster and Daniels CPA firm and then moved to full-time in 1981. After 1993, she worked for various companies in Moses Lake until retiring. In retirement, she began helping again with the Japanese Agricultural Training Program and volunteering in the office at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Doris is survived by her children: Sandi Swanstrom-Ponce (Manuel) of Sunnyside WA, Steve Swanstrom of Melissa, TX and Scott Swanstrom (Traci) of Austin TX. She had 4 grandchildren that she loved very much and was so proud of: James Ponce, Stephanie Swanstrom, Brendan Swanstrom and Trevor Swanstrom. She is also survived by 5 brothers: Ralph (Sharlee) Mueller, Les (Karen) Mueller, Glen (Carol) Mueller, Carl (Debbie) Mueller, and Richard (Valli) Mueller and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her loving Husband Dale Swanstrom on March 27, 2013, her parents, and 3 brothers (Wilbur, Marvin, and very recently, Dale). Doris was baptized, confirmed, sponsored the Luther League, and was married at Salem Lutheran Church in Superior, NE. Doris was an active member and volunteer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moses Lake, WA. She loved being with her family and friends. Whether hosting family gatherings, traveling to visit family and friends long separated by many miles or just spending time catching up. She was always the rock of the family and a steadfast, caring, friend to those close to her. On her own time, she enjoyed quilting, and crocheting. She was a smart, devoted, kind, funny, and loving woman and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be given in her memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salem Lutheran Church, or a Charity of your choice. A Memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Moses Lake, WA on June 1st at 11:00AM.
