Memorial may be given to the family, RR 1, Box 5, Nelson, NE 68961. ================================================= The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, October 3, 1996; pg. 8 Elsie Anna Maria Mueller was born on November 14, 1907, to Johann Diedrich and Charlotte Sophia (Kuper) Eilers on a farm near Nora, Nebraska. She passed away in Hastings, Nebraska, Monday, September 23, 1996, at the age of 88 years. She was baptized on December 15, 1907, at Salem Lutheran Church and confirmed her faith on May 22, 1921, at Salem Lutheran Church. Elsie was educated at Garfield School, located near her home. December 28, 1927, Elsie was united in marriage to Carl William Mueller. They established their home on a farm northwest of Nelson, Nebraska, moving to the present homestead north of Nelson in 1943. Their marriage was blessed with nine children, Wilber, Ralph, Marvin, Dale, Doris, Lester, Glen, Carl Jr., and Richard. Elsie continued to live on the farm following the death of her husband on January 7, 1980. She moved to the Kensington in Hastings in January 1995 and to the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson in December 1995. Elsie was a devoted wife and mother and she loved her flowers and garden. She was never one to complain, even when we knew she was hurting. She was a gracious hostess and had a way of finding enough food to feed a crowd, often with only a few minutes notice. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Wilber, on August 24, 1952; her parents; one brother, Otto Eilers; and three sisters, Margaret Grummert, Hattie Bargen and Erna Hinz. Survivors include one daughter, Doris Swanstrom and her husband Dale of Moses Lake, Washington; seven sons, Ralph and his wife Sharlee of Littleton, Colorado, Marvin and his wife Joyce of Glenvil, Nebraska, Dale and his wife Mona of Hastings, Nebraska, Lester and his wife Karen of Broomfield, Colorado, Glen and his wife Carol of Nelson, Nebraska, Carl Jr., and his wife Debbie of Pueblo, Colorado, and Richard and his wife Patti of Sierra Vista, Arizona; 19 grandchildren, Tanya Inks, Ron and Russ Mueller, Pam Williams, Carlene Pollard, Brian Mueller, Al and Rex Mueller, Jeanne Surface, Sandra Ponce, Steven and Scott Swanstrom, Melinda Maroney, Matt Mueller, Tracy Mueller, Marsha Mueller, Nathan Mueller and Andy and Greg Mueller; 11 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Naomi Mueller of Nelson, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 28, 1996, at 2 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor Michael osberg officiating. Music was provided by Alfred and Janell Hanson singing a duet of "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go" and congregational hymns with Virginia Drohman as organist and accompanied (sic). Pallbearers were her children, Ralph, Marvin, Dale, Lester, Glen, Carl, Jr., and Richard Mueller and Doris Swanstrom. Burial was in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
