She was born July 4, 1938 at Vinton, the daughter of Homer and Irene (Byous) Coots. She attended Vinton Community Schools and graduated from High School in 1956. Dorla attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Upper Elementary Education. She taught in the Humboldt Community Schools, Corwith-Wesley Schools and St. Joseph Catholic School in Wesley. On June 19, 1953, Dorla accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior. She joined Wesley United Methodist Church on May 23, 1999, and was active in the United Methodist Women. On March 11, 1977, Dorla was united in marriage with Orville H. Weiland at Algona. Dorla sewed and mended on a volunteer basis for Westview Care Center in Britt. Her hobbies included baking and decorating cakes, and visiting with friends. She is survived by her husband, Orville, of Algona; two sons, Adrian Dangelser and his wife, Lynne, of Fenton, and Jeffrey Dangelser and his special friend, Linda Freese, of Fort Dodge; two grandsons, Clint Dangelser of Fenton, and Alex Dangelser of Spirit Lake; five stepchildren, Patricia Frayne and her husband Bob, of Clear Lake, David Weiland and his wife, Sue, of Britt, Betty Erpelding and her husband, Craig, of Algona, Judy Weber and her husband, Dave, of Corwith, and Jon Weiland and his wife, Janelle, of Britt; 15 step-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Long of Cedar Rapids and Doris Ehlers of Independence; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Floyd and Loyd Coots. Funeral services were Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Wesley, with the Rev.
