Daughter of Fountain Fox Rash and Mary Martin OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, September 10, 1970 DARRAH - Dorothea Alice Rash Darrah, daughter of Fountain and Mary Rash, was born November 14, 1881 in Wayne County, Iowa, and entered into eternal rest on September 2, 1970. She was united in marriage to R. J. Darrah on October 26, 1898. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951 and one daughter, Beulah Louise, who died in infancy. As a young girl she gave her heart to Christ and joined the Eden Baptist Church, where she worked as a faithful member as long as her health permitted. During her younger days her family recalls that she spent her free time under the shade trees teaching little children the scriptures. When they were able to quote them to her, she rewarded them with a shiny penny. She spent most of her life on the farm, later moving to Derby. After she was unable to live alone, she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law. For the past eight years she had lived at the boarding home at Humeston and later at the Chariton Manor. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Twila Tuttle; son-in-law, Roland Tuttle, grandson, Curtis Tuttle and wife Marietta, great-grandchildren, Kathy and Steve Tuttle; one sister, Bertha Lugar; and several nieces and nephews and innumerable friends. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. Edward Quick at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 1970, at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Murray Cemetery in Lucas County, Iowa.
