She had been ill for about two months. Mrs. Nissen, the daughter of Julius and Hedwig Hoist, was born Sept. 26, 1882 in Benton county near Keystone. She was united in marriage to George Nissen on June 17, 1909 in Keystone by the Sainted Pastor Gotthilf Francke. Was Faithful Member Of Lutheran Church Dorothea Christiana Nissen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clifford McIrath, Sunday evening, Jan. 4. She had been ill for about two months. Mrs. Nissen, the daughter of Julius and Hedwig Hoist, was born Sept. 26, 1882 in Benton county near Keystone. She was united in marriage to George Nissen on June 17, 1909 in Keystone by the Sainted Pastor Gotthilf Francke. They farmed for a number of years near Keystone until the death of Mr. Nissen on Oct. 29, 1943. Mrs. Nissen came to this city in 1947 and made her home with her son, Frank on Eleventh street. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church mid joined the First Lutheran church in this city in 1947. She was also an active member of the Ladies Aid society. She is survived by three daughters, Lydia Francke and Marie Smith of Council Bluffs, and Hulda Mcllrath, this city; four sons, Frank of this city, Paul of Marion and Elvin of Keystone and Elmer of Vinton; 16 grandchildren, two brothers, John Hoist and Alfred Hoist of Keystone, and three sisters, Tlllie,, Anna and Mary Hoist of Keystone. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 2:30 p. m., from the First Lutheran church with Rev. W. H. Schlie officiating. Music was, furnished by Mrs. Lorenz Peterson, soloist, and Mrs. Richard Jahnke, organist. Pallbearers were Victor Hoist, Fred Hoist, Herman Albers, P. H. Albers, Ed Cherveny and Waldo Hoist. Burial was in the Keystone cemetery. The Belle Plaine Union January 7, 1953.
