Read More	Suggested edit: From the August 9, 1917, Griswold American: --ANOTHER PIONEER IS CALLED --Mrs. Maria Dorathea Meyer, a Pioneer Resident of Noble Township Dead "In the death of Mrs. Dorothea Marie Meyer, another pioneer resident of Noble township, has been called to her reward. Since the death of her husband, the late John Christopher Meyer, she has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Mueller. Last winter she was ill for several weeks and her life was dispaired of. Gradually she regained her health. Wednesday, July 25th, she was stricken with a severe attack of heart trouble and during the following day became unconscious, from which she never rallied. She remained in an unconscious condition until Saturday night when she was gathered unto her fathers. She was born in Hanover, Germany, January 3rd, 1836 and at the time of her death had reached the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 25 days. At the age of 14 she was confirmed and became a member of the Lutheran church. She kept the faith to the hour of her death. In the year 1860 she was married to her late husband at Grossen-Suestett. Six children came to bless the home. However, two passed away in infancy. Those who survive her are: August, John, and William Meyer and Mrs. Henry Mueller. There are also fifteen grand-children, 2 great-grandchildren, one sister in Oklahoma, one son-in-law and three daughters-in-law to mourn her death. It might well be said that Mother Meyer was a pioneer of Noble township. The family located in Noble Township in 1876 and the family were charter members of the Lutheran church. The funeral services were conducted at the Church, Monday, July 30, by her pastor, Rev. C. Nauerth, at 2:30. He paid a beautiful tribute to the well spent life and admonished those who remain to look at her life as an example to follow. The choir rendered several beautiful selections. The remains were laid away in the cemetery close by the church. The remaining members of the family have the sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow."
