January 3d, 1860, he was united in marriage to Dorothea Marie Schultz. To this union were born six children of which two died in infancy. Read More	From the March 9, 1916, Griswold American: "John Christopher Meyer was born July 30th, 1832, in the village of Grossen-Sustedt, in the Province of Hanover, Germany, where he served for several years in the army until he was honorably discharged. January 3d, 1860, he was united in marriage to Dorothea Marie Schultz. To this union were born six children of which two died in infancy. Besides his aged wife he leaves to mourn his death one daughter and three sons, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. In 1869 he came to this country, first settling in Illinois, but in 1878 he removed with his family to Noble township where he has since resided. His death occurred February 24, 1916. He had reached the advanced age of 83 years, 6 months, and 24 days. The funeral services were held Sunday, services being held at the home and also at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, Rev. C. Nauerth officiating. The text of his address in the church being John VIII:51. 'Verily verily, I say unto you, if a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.' Deceased was one of the charter members of the church and several times acted as one of the officers of the church. He was the oldest member of the congregation. Mrs. Meyer was not able to attend the services at the church and cemetery, having been so unfortunate as to fall on the ice a few weeks ago and breaking her arm. The minister made an address on the words of scripture which the deceased had selected as his funeral text. Rev. 3:11 'Hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown' and Mark 5:36: 'Be not afraid, only believe' which he had written on a paper. He found his last resting place on the family lot at Lyman. A great crowd attended to pay their last respect to Father Meyer."
