Description	:	PORTLAND - Dorothy Ada (Turner) Noyes, 93, of Portland, by the grace of God, passed into the presence of her Savior on Oct. 26, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born in Windsor, Oct. 26, 1923, the fourth of eight children born to Chauncey and Flossie Sproul Turner. Read More	PORTLAND - Dorothy Ada (Turner) Noyes, 93, of Portland, by the grace of God, passed into the presence of her Savior on Oct. 26, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born in Windsor, Oct. 26, 1923, the fourth of eight children born to Chauncey and Flossie Sproul Turner. Dorothy graduated from Cony High School in 1941, Gates Business College in 1942, and her love for learning continued throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed sewing, creating quilts, and other crafts. Bible study was important to her. On Oct. 3, 1942, Dorothy married Lyle D. Noyes in Rockport. They had 65 wonderful years together. Soon after they were married, Lyle entered the U.S. Army. Throughout their lifetime together they lived in Portland, Falmouth, Augusta, and Saco. With Lyle, Dottie enjoyed laughter, cooking, gardening, and traveling, seeing Europe and Mexico, and even the Maritime Provinces by motorcycle. As an active parent, Dottie participated in Boy Scouts, PTA, Little League, Portland High School music parents and was a Sunday school teacher at Payson Park Evangelical Free Church (now called First Evangelical Free Church of Maine). The Noyes closely followed the musical activities of their children and grandchildren. Being cheerleaders to their progeny took the couple all over the country. Dorothy held a variety of secretarial jobs, first with the state and federal governments in Augusta and later in Portland, becoming a secretary in the U.S. Attorney's Office. She completed her career as secretary to Federal District Judge Edward T. Gignoux, working with him from 1969 until 1987. A highlight of her work with Judge Gignoux was her participation with him at the Chicago 7 retrial held in Chicago in 1973. Dottie participated in civic affairs and church activities. She enjoyed visiting and encouraging others. She volunteered at Maine Medical Center, typing up newborn announcements for the newspaper. Her love of these activities was only surpassed by the joy of her faith in God through Jesus Christ and by her love for and support of her family. Dottie was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Lyle Davis; a son, Michael Turner Noyes; and her siblings, Harold Turner, Mavis Choate, Catherine Kilgore, Beatrice Tibbetts, and the twins, Jean Paradis and Joyce Clowes. Dottie is survived by one sister, Elaine Bilodeau of Skowhegan; a son, Richard and his wife Clorinda of Portland; five grandchildren, Ian Michael Noyes and his wife Mindy of Oakland, Calif., Aimee Eileen O'Connell and her husband John of Blue Springs, Mo., Benjamin Richard Noyes of Portland, Rachel Andreana Noyes of Oakland, Calif., and Joel William Noyes of New York City; six great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Dottie's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Birchwoods at Canco in Portland and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough for their loving care. A memorial service will be held at Windsor Christian Fellowship, 9 Reed Rd., Windsor, followed by interment at Oak Hill Cemetery and a reception at the church.
