Born in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Charles Dinsey Bowers, Sr. and Addie Viola Pitts Bowers, was retired from Torrington Company and worked at Laurens YMCA. She was manager of One Way Music Ministry, a member of Lucas Ave. Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Surviving are two daughters, Anne Smith and husband, Wayne, of Simpsonville, and Carol McDowell of Laurens; two brothers, Dan Bowers of Wadesboro, N.C. and Sims Bowers of Lordsburg, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Ryan Smith and Amy of Guyton, Ga. and Leslie Madden of Gray Court; four great-grandchildren, Jarrod and Abby Smith, Parker and Payton Madden; a sister-in-law, Lois Bowers of Laurens and extended family, Gerald and Brenda Douglas of Laurens; and a grand goddaughter, Skylar Douglas. She was predeceased by an infant son, Little Mack; and two brothers, Don Bowers and C.D. Bowers, Jr. Memorials may be made to Gibbs Regional Cancer Center, 380 Serpentine Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to a charity of one's choice.
