Dorothy Jane was born on July 22, 1924, on the home place near Marshalltown, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Johnson) Lander. Dorothy Jane was born on July 22, 1924, on the home place near Marshalltown, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Johnson) Lander. One of four children, she and her siblings grew up helping on the family farm. She attended school in rural Marshalltown, graduating from Albion High School with the Class of 1942. On August 29, 1948, Dorothy married Amos "Rodney" Freiboth at the Binford House in Marshalltown. Together they raised their five children and settled nicely into farming. Dorothy was a hardworking farmwife and excellent homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Dillon Social Club and enjoyed puzzle books, reading and playing solitaire. Dorothy always looked forward to going out for Saturday lunches with her family at her favorite spots, OJ's or Perkins. She loved watching TV and listening to country music, but more than anything, she loved her family. Surviving are her children, AJ Freiboth of Marshalltown, Dianna Freiboth of Marshalltown, Rita (Kirk) Duit of Woodbury, Minnesota, Julie (Richard) Dougherty of Marshalltown, and Roger (Tara) Freiboth of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Alexandra (Micah) Overstreet, Brittany (Jakob) Bastin, Michelle (Steve) May, Tanya (Scott) Case, Teri (Brad) Starn and Tim Freiboth; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; her parents, Joseph and Emma; her siblings, Irene Packer, Helen Goecke, and Howard Lander; and her daughter-in-law, Cristin Freiboth.
