Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery, south of Stratford. Dorothy was born in Hamilton County near Stanhope on August 11, 1917, the daughter of Leonard and Jeanette (Parmely) Olson. She graduated from Boone High School in 1935, and on December 6, 1941, she married Harold M. Pierce at Bethany, Missouri. Dorothy was a homemaker and she enjoyed crafts, making quilts, genealogy, and traveling. In earlier years, she enjoyed family vacations in Minnesota. Dorothy was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Story County and Cambridge Historical Societies, and the Over 60's Club of Cambridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Michael, a daughter Nancy Pierce, and two brothers Ralph and Glenn 'Tiny' Olson. Dorothy is survived by four sons Harold Jr. 'Hal' and wife Cyndi of Plymouth, Minnesota, Leonard and wife Ann of Portland, Oregon, Jon of Davenport, and Don and wife Diane of Ames; two daughters Elsie 'Jean' Williams and husband Dale of Marshalltown, and Cheryl Schultz and husband Harley of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Faith Baptist Church in Cambridge on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion. Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall is in charge of arrangements.
