Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Dorothy was born on June 4, 1935 to Harm and Mary (Ravenhorst) Krull on farm northwest of Clear Lake, SD. She attended the Ash Grove Country School and graduated in 1953 from the Clear Lake High School. Following her education she worked at the Deuel County Courthouse for the Highway Department. Dorothy was united in marriage to Harvey Kruiter on April 15, 1955, in Dempster, SD. They lived on a farm southeast of Castlewood, SD. In 1962 they moved to the family farmstead northwest of Clear Lake, SD where Dorothy helped on the farm. Harvey passed away on October 25, 1983 in a farm accident. Dorothy moved to Clear Lake in the fall of 1983 where she did day care for a short time. In the fall of 1984, Dorothy began working for the Clear Lake School in the cafeteria where she worked until her retirement in 2000. During this time Dorothy was united in marriage to C. Lyle Holt on March 1, 1997 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, SD. Following their marriage, they lived in Clear Lake, SD. On Sunday, November 26, 2006 Dorothy passed away at the Deuel County Memorial Hospital, Clear Lake, SD at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 22 days. Dorothy was a member of the Congregational Church in Clear Lake, SD. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Clear Lake, SD. She loved farm life and working outdoors. Her enjoyment came from gardening, going to the farm, watching birds, bingo, bowling, playing cards and listening to music. She also liked attending area town celebrations. Dorothy was an excellent baker and was counted on for bringing pies to family gatherings. Family, friends and neighbors were important to her and she enjoyed their get togethers. Dorothy greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her personality was sincere and she had a gentle caring nature. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Lyle Holt; Clear Lake, SD three children: Steven Kruiter, Clear Lake, SD, Debra (Scott) Blase, Volga, SD and Sandra (Russ) Olson, Brookings, SD; three step-children: Carey (Kim) Holt, Clear Lake, SD, Randy (Sue) Holt, Fulda, MN and Karna (Marty) Stroschein, Clear Lake, SD; 5 grandchildren: Erin (Ashley) Allen, Derek Blase, Adam Olson, Brittany Olson and Lucas Olson; 9 step-grandchildren: Corey Holt, Elizabeth Holt, Christopher Holt, Chad Aaberg, Alan Aaberg, Brittany Holt, Zachary Holt, Josh Stroschein and Delaney Stroschein and 2 great-grandchildren, Madysen Brewer and Abbey Allen. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Kruiter; parents, Harm and Mary Krull and one brother, Dorus Krull.
