Description	:	Funeral services for a former State Center resident, Miss Dorothy M Gerke, 62, of Marshalltown, were set for this morning, Thurs, at St John's Lutheran Church, State Center. Miss Gerke died in Evangelical Hospital Monday, where she had been admitted earlier in the day. She had been in failing health for the past 18 months. Miss Gerke died in Evangelical Hospital Monday, where she had been admitted earlier in the day. She had been in failing health for the past 18 months. Rev E L Steumpfig, pastor, was in charge of services and burial was in St John's Cemetery. Born October 3, 1906 near State Center, she was the daughter of Louis C and Johanna Fricke Gerke. She had always made her home in the State Center area, where she was employed by the telephone company. In 1965 she moved to Marshalltown, where she was employed by the dietary department at the Evangelical Hospital. Miss Gerke was a member of St John's Lutheran Church and was active in its Sunday School department. Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Conrad Gerke of Melbourne, Martin Gerke of State Center, Mrs Paul (Leora) Dike of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs Laurel (Edith) Leggett with whom she had made her home in recent years. Also surviving are a large number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, two sisters and three brothers. November 7, 1968 State Center Enterprise.
