She graduated with high honors from the Grant High School and at the time of her death she was enrolled in the Red Oak Junior College. Read More	Dorothy Rae McClellan was born June 5, 1917 at Grant, Iowa and died at the Atlantic Hospital, on February 13, 1935, being seventeen years, eight months, and 8 days old. She graduated with high honors from the Grant High School and at the time of her death she was enrolled in the Red Oak Junior College. At the age of ten she presented herself to the pastor of the local church as one who desired a more complete life in the Lord and his church. Death caused by influenza with intestinal complications came after a week’s severe illness. During this last week her thought was for others with anxiety for their welfare. Her instructors, both in the local schools and the junior college, give unlimited praise to her careful painstaking search for knowledge, and sent their deep admiration for her wholesome and happy scholarship. The esteem with which she was regarded by her classmates displayed itself in their selection of her to be one of the officers of the Lambda Iota Theta Literary Sorority. Dorothy is survived by her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark W. Givan, her mother and step father, and Mrs. C. A. Lenz of Elliott, her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Francis McClelland of Norfolk, Nebraska, one brother and three sisters, Gerald and Lola Schuler of Grant and Susan and Marian McClellan of Norfolk, and the grandfather, S. E. Smith of Grant. Funeral services were held at the church Saturday afternoon in charge of the local pastor. Betty Johnson and Mary Unger of the Red Oak Junior College presented the music. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Twenty fellow students of the Junior College came for the service. Max Schüler, Wayne Taylor, Russell Larson, Russell Dotson, Donald Thompson, and Everett Davis, all of whom were graduate classmates, acted at pall bearers.
