Cherokee and Afton township were particularly saddened Saturday morning when it was learned that Miss Dorothy Rose Melton, a twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Melton of Afton township, died shortly after two o'clock that morning at the Sioux Valley hospital. She was not quite sixteen years old Her twin sister, Doris, is ill at home, tho not in a serious condition. Dorothy was a sophomore in high school in Cherokee, a good student and among those in "A" grade list. She was a favorite of many both in and out of school. She was born on the farm in Afton township July 30, 1912. Besides the stricken - parents she is survived by five sisters, Ruth and Helen, both students at Ames, her twin sister, Doris, Marjory and Jean. Funeral services are to be held this Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, burial following in Oak Hill cemetery. Dr. J. J. Bushnell will preach the sermon. Her classmates will attend in a body. Music will be furnished by Miss Ruth Banister, violin prelude, two selections by a quartette composed of Gladys Koehne, Marjory Stanosheck, Clarence Faircloth and Lyle Gilbert, and a solo, "Little Pink Rose," by Mrs. Forrest Barnes.
