She was born Nov 17, 1898, in the Cargy community southeast of Overbrook, the daughter of Emma Eliza Dunn English. She attended Spring Hill Grade School southeast of Overbrook and Overbrook High School. Mrs Reed was a bookkeeper for the Reed Chevrolet dealership in Overbrook from 1926 to 1942 and later for the Reed implement Co from 1945 to 1948. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Fidelis Club and Thimble Club, all in Overbrook. She was married to Fred Henderson Reed July 17, 1918, in Topeka. He died July 19, 1976. Survivors include two nephews, Paul English and Ellis English, both in Lyndon; and three nieces, Claudine N Norton, Overbrook, Virginia Burns, Tranquility, Calif., and Pearl Coffman, Detroit, Mich. Services will be at 10 am Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery. Mrs Reed will lie in state from 3 to 9 pm today at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook and after 9 am Tuesday in the church. Relatives and friends will meet in the church parlor following services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Overbrook library 66524.
