Description	:	Dorsey D. Amos, age 82, of Jefferson City, formerly of Russellville, went to be with his Lord Sunday morning, July 17, 2016, at his home. He was born February 25, 1934, on the family farm in Enon, a son of Rado and Orpha Ellen Scott Amos. On October 8, 1954, at the Enon Baptist Church, Dorsey was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Read More	Dorsey D. Amos, age 82, of Jefferson City, formerly of Russellville, went to be with his Lord Sunday morning, July 17, 2016, at his home. He was born February 25, 1934, on the family farm in Enon, a son of Rado and Orpha Ellen Scott Amos. On October 8, 1954, at the Enon Baptist Church, Dorsey was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Reichel, who survives at their home. He was a 1951 graduate of Russellville High School. As a young man, Dorsey went to work at the Russellville MFA. He was later employed in the Workman’s Comp division with the State of Missouri, before going to work as a Junior Auditor with Missouri Power and Light. He retired as Service Supervisor with Union Electric. Following his retirement, Dorsey remained active driving cars for the Ford and Chrysler dealerships and for Glen Campbell Auto all in Jefferson City. Dorsey was saved at the age of 9 at the Enon Baptist Church. For many years he has been a faithful and active member of the Russellville Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, singing in the choir, as a van driver and with World Changers. He enjoyed raising cattle and putting up hay on the home place in Enon where he was raised. He was an avid fan of all sports, taking a special interest in golf in his later years. He enjoyed coaching and playing baseball and softball with his son and daughter. He was a family man, who especially enjoyed the time he could spend with his grandchildren. He loved hearing about what they were doing and they made sure to tell him about everything they were involved in. Dorsey also enjoyed the time he could spend with Marilyn at Truman Lake where they would camp and fish. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by two children and their spouses, Gary and Marla Amos of Russellville and Dottie and Gary Bemboom of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Tony Amos and wife Alicia, Ellen Amos and Molly Amos, one step granddaughter, Ashley J. Bemboom, one step great grandson, Isaiah Wilke, a nephew, Dale Shikles, a niece, Dee Ellen Atkinson Maher, along with other relatives and many friends. Dorsey was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruby Ellen Shikles, one brother, Herschel Amos, and two nephews, Dennis Shikles and Duane Amos. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Russellville Baptist Church with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Russellville Baptist Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Russellville Baptist Church Youth Group or the Enloe Cemetery.
