Mills. They, with members of the Greenville County Medical society and C. A. Beaman, Mart Cheatham, Walter Goldsmith, Dr. R. W. Provence and Rev. J. C. Diggs are asked to meet at the mortuary at 2:45. Born in Sumter. Dr. Ariail was born in Sumter and was a son of the late Rev. James W. and Caroline Hodges Ariail. His father was for 60 years an active minister in the Methodist denomination. Dr. Ariail was graduated from Wofford college and later received his degree in medicine from the Medical College of South Carolina. For more than 30 years he practices medicine. 27 years of that time in Greenville. During World War I he was commissioned a medical officer in the United States Navy. He was a member of Buncombe street Methodist church and had served on the board of stewards of the church. He was a member also of the Masonic fraternity, including the Hejaz Temple of the Shrine. For two terms Dr. Ariail served the Greenville County Medical Society as secretary, and for one term held the office of president. At the time of his death he was completing his second term as president of the Hopewell Tuberculosis association. He was a director of the State Tuberculosis association. Dr. Ariail was vice-president of the Greenville Humane society. He was one of the organizers, six years ago of the Hospital Benefit association of South Carolina and served continuously since that time as secretary of its board of directors. He was president of the staff of St. Francis hospital. An active member of the Greenville Lions club, he had served as the chairman of its sight conservation committee. Dr. Ariail took an active part in cancer control work in this state and two years ago directed the Greenville county drive for funds as well as serving Greenville as a member of the Council of Social agencies. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Dorothy Giles, of Graniteville, who died here in 1929. To them were born two children who survive. C. C. Ariail, Jr., and Mrs. M. G. Howle. His second marriage was to Miss Mary Graydon, of Columbia, who survives with two children born to that union, Mary Elizabeth Ariail and Nancy Ariail of Greenville. There is one surviving granddaughter. Other survive. In addition, Dr. Ariail is survived by two brothers, Dr. J. M. Ariail and Rev. W. G. Ariail; and four sisters, Mrs. A. H. Ward, Mrs. W. H. Ritter, Mrs. Orman Smith and Mrs. Mark Tinsley. The family home is at 1207 Augusta Street. The body will remain at the Mackey mortuary. Following the services Monday afternoon the interment will be made in the family vault in Springwood cemetery. Contributed by D Yancy
