SOMERS DIED IN HOSPITAL Noted Physician Was Buried On Monday Dr. Charles Irving "Mike" Somers died at the McCready Hospital last Friday after he was rushed there the day before. Dr. Somers' health had been bad for several years but his sudden death came as a great shock to all of his friends and patients. He was born in the Jacksonville section 43 years ago and was the son of Mrs. Annie Ward Somers and the late Michael A. Somers. Before illness caused him to slow down a few years ago, he was recognized as one of the best practicing physicians in the Crisfield area, having received excellent training during student days and while serving his internship. Doctor Mike was just a plain, country doctor, a father confessor for many of his patients willing to serve and give time at all hours when he could to the treatment of his patients. He was a big man in body and a bigger man in heart, for those that he could help when help was needed. He was a graduate of St. John's College in Annapolis, received his medical training at George Washington University in Washington. After a few years as resident physician and internship he returned to Crisfield in 1935 and opened an office here. He was a Mason and an Elk. Services were held for him at Immanuel Methodist Church on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Otis P. Jefferson and Dr. J. Yancey Fincher. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Graveside services were held by the Masonic Order and the large attendance at the funeral and the immense array of floral tributes attest to the true esteem in which he was held. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Virginia Horsey Somers; his mother; two brothers, Dr. Grover S. Somers, Marion, and Prof. Milton Somers of La Plata Md.; one sister, Miss Hazel B.
